Expensify
details
Expensify is a young startup based in San Francisco with 8 people and lots of energy. We make "expense reports that don't suck" and I do this by making them pretty.
As the UX Design Engineer, I make flows out of post-its on my wall, analyze user stories while having a good laugh, mock up some shiny stuff like buttons (with the occasional shadow), muck around the rest of the JS and/or PHP code, and refactor the HTML and CSS to make even that look pretty.

FED-UP
details
A grant-funded research project run by Prof. Hillier of Penn Design, the aim of FED-UP is to investigate interventions for preventing childhood obesity by creating a web application for inner-city children to log their food purchases and stops along the way to and from school. As the User Experience (UX) consultant, I provided a User Centered perspective to address the unique needs of the project, resulting in a fleshed out idea and design specifications for further development.

Penn Course Reviewed
details
An improved course rating and comment system, I completed this as an independent project,
learning mostly everything from scratch (like PHP and Javascript).
Important technical aspects are optimization with css sprites, mod_rewrite, ajax,
and a flexible search which goes beyond anything the university offers.
The reg-ex parser populates the database with the course information.

Mapping Du Bois
details
A complete re-design from the previous site, I drew inspiration from Du Bois' original map for the color palette and layout, with details such as tracing Du Bois' handwriting. It features a custom photo gallery with a similar custom blog, as well as cache control for faster loading, site search, a humorous 404 page, and even a favicon.

CURF Search
details
The Center for Undergraduate Research at Penn needed a web interface to search their large FileMaker database. The collapsible search form with sortable table display allows users to see a lot of information at a glance. Users can switch between a narrow or a wide layout to accommodate for monitor width variety. The original database is exported from FileMaker Pro to XML, then parsed in PHP with XMLReader for searching.

Portfolio 2008
details
My first online portfolio showcases my previous work in web design, graphic design, programming, flash, and film. Featured is a human binary clock, a 360 of my room, a self-looping book, a film set to the beat of the mario bros theme song, and an animated flash atom. My experience has increased exponentially; thus, my portfolio has evolved as quickly as I have.
